Sowing Belief

Scripture:

“You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, fruit that would last.” John 15:16

Introduction:

As a high school biology teacher, my students often asked, “You teach science and you also believe in God? I thought all science teachers were atheist.” I love that honest question. It gives me the opportunity to share an honest answer, “Yes, I believe in God! In fact, my relationship with Him is the most important thing in my life and all these years of studying how life got the way it is on earth has only strengthened my belief in Him. Thanks for asking.”

Producing lasting fruit begins with sowing the right kind of seeds and there is nothing more lasting than sowing seeds of belief. It pays eternal dividends. Faith in God comes naturally to children, but it can easily be shaken, and even destroyed, by what their impressionable minds are taught in school. This is why we must pay careful attention to our curriculum and never be the instruments used to sow unbelief. On the contrary, we have been planted in people’s lives to “manifest the sweet aroma of the knowledge of God in every place.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)

With that great honor comes great responsibility.
