Aug. 22, 2024—In April, the Biden Administration put forward an illegal rewrite of Title IX that would require schools across the country to implement gender ideology. These new rules were to go into effect on August 1 and require school districts to adopt them or potentially lose federal funding.

However, thanks to the work of Alliance Defending Freedom, Christian Educators, and many states and allied organizations, the new Title IX rules have been successfully blocked in 26 states, and then additionally in 3,800 individual schools.

The latest victory was an injunction issued by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on August 22 to block the implementation of the Biden Title IX rules in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Christian Educators and Alliance Defending Freedom filed a friend-of-the-court brief arguing for the injunction in that case.

Now, a majority of U.S. states have injunctions against the implementation of these rules, as these four states join Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Alaska, Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Idaho, Montana, Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

The Title IX rules additionally are blocked in all schools attended by members of Female Athletes United, the members of Young America’s Foundation, and the minor children of the members of Moms for Liberty (approximately 3,800 schools).

Christian Educators and Alliance Defending Freedom continue to advance a legal strategy that we believe will strike down this illegal reinterpretation of Title IX nationwide. Given the overwhelming success of six distinct cases that have won injunctions so far, we strongly believe that these Title IX rules will ultimately fail. Consequently, school districts that are currently expending resources to implement them will find their efforts unnecessary and harmful.
