Educators, how are you holding up?
In the whirlwind of the school year’s end, it’s easy to lose focus. The eclipse has come and gone, state testing and benchmarking have disrupted our routines, and it feels like there are more events, emails, and urgent tasks than ever before. Isn’t it ironic that during the very time we strive to etch lasting memories with our colleagues and students, we find ourselves running on fumes? Fellow educators, today I want to encourage you to keep your focus on God’s plans and purposes amidst this end-of-the-school-year frenzy in the following ways:
Assignment #1: Reflect on the Blessings
Drawing from Philippians 2:1-2, we can reflect on the blessings bestowed upon our classrooms and seek opportunities to share stories of God’s presence with others. Whether it’s during a coffee break or a brief moment in the copy room, let’s intentionally ponder how God has been at work in our classrooms this year and the encouragement He has provided. We can also set aside time to open our hearts and invite Him to shape the conclusion of this academic year.
Assignment #2: Reflect on His Why in Your Work
Philippians 2:3 reminds us to remember the deeper purpose behind our work. As we near the end of the school year, let’s pause to recommit ourselves to prioritizing God’s work in our mission. Let’s strive to be united in purpose, bound by love, and aligned in spirit and mind. Let’s identify those areas where we may have drifted away from prioritizing God’s work and realign with His purpose.
Assignment #3: Reflect on Your Schedule
As Christian educators, we are called to lead with a servant’s heart (Philippians 2:4). However, it’s essential to remember that caring for others doesn’t mean we have to neglect our own well-being. Let’s reflect on our current schedule, identify areas where we may be overextending ourselves, and prioritize activities that contribute to our overall wellness. Then, we can develop a plan for incorporating these self-care practices into our routines, and cultivate a healthier, calmer, and more attentive mindset as we navigate the demands of the end-of-year rush.
