- Recent posts about teachers being threatened—and even having their names shared online without anyone talking to them directly—have left me nervous about what I share on my own social media. How can I continue to walk in line with my faith and still feel safe?
First, you are not alone in this. Many educators are feeling the weight of increased public scrutiny. It’s unsettling when the space that used to connect and encourage now feels risky. But your concern doesn’t mean you lack courage; it means you’re paying attention.
When I’m anxious or seeking control in the chaos, I often turn to a resource shared during an AWAKE Experience, from Salvation Encounter entitled Walking in the Opposite Spirit. This guide shares verses grouped by themes like chaos, loss of control, or fear, and it always helps me ground myself in truth. One verse I often cling to is: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5, NIV)
At the same time, it’s important to remember you don’t have to navigate this alone. If a need arises, especially if you ever feel threatened, harassed, or pressured, Christian Educators provide direct support through their membership service center (888-798-1124). Unlike a school-based union rep who may have limited training, their team includes legal counsel and consultants who are former school leaders. They will walk with you quickly and professionally if your situation requires action.
Most of all, know this: your identity is not defined by posts, comments, or public opinion. It is secure in Christ. Keep leaning into discernment, prayer, and trusted counsel as you navigate what you share.
Have you ever felt unsure about what to share online? How do you stay grounded in truth when fear or criticism rises?
Share your encouragement in the comments—someone else may need your wisdom today!
