WHAT, ME WORRY? NO, PRAY!

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6, NLT

I might be showing my age, but I remember a silly magazine that was published when I was a kid called Mad. And once it had a picture of a funny character named Alfred E. Newman grinning and shrugging his shoulders saying, “What? Me worry?!”

The caption and picture took hold and often was used in comedy routines and general conversation. It was supposed to suggest that some people are not smart enough to know what to worry about.

But God’s Word turns this whole concept of worrying around. According to Scripture, the really wise ones are those who come to God with their concerns and then turn them into prayer and trust.

God wants to be at the top of our list for meeting needs, both urgent and simple. He has promised to receive us—His servants and beloved friends—well, listen closely to us, and then respond according to His omnipotence (all powerful) and omniscience (all knowing) in just the perfect way and time.

May today bring you greatest joy knowing that all of your concerns are in God’s hands and are being addressed accordingly.

Dear Lord, Please help me remember today that I do not need to worry but to trust You. Thank You. Amen.
