THE TEACHER JESUS LOVES

I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. Jeremiah 31:3, NIV

Everyone knew Rosa’s mom loved her. Each morning when Rosa arrived at school, there was a lipstick “kiss” stamped on her cheek. Jeremy knew his mom loved him, too, because every day she tucked a small note into his lunchbox.

These simple, tangible reminders make love impossible to miss.

Educators, do you know how deeply God loves you, especially on the days you’ve failed Him or feel you’ve fallen short in your teaching? In those moments, we may struggle to love ourselves, yet God’s love for us remains unchanged. He loves us just as fully on our hardest days as on our best ones.

I sometimes wonder if John the Apostle referred to himself as “the disciple Jesus loved” as a way of continually reminding his own heart of God’s affection. Perhaps we need to do the same—think of ourselves as “the teacher Jesus loves.”

How might that truth change your school day? Could it help you push past your own weaknesses, the underestimation of others, or the ache of a lonely day?

Ask Him today for a tangible reminder of His constant, unfailing love. With that assurance, we truly need little else.

God, thank You that I am the teacher You love. May my heart leap with that truth today. Amen.
