God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10, NIV
“Pardon me, Mrs. Wilson? Is that you?”
I saw a beautiful young woman come running after me as I was leaving the local pizza shop one Friday evening.
“Yes,” I said, realizing that this was probably one of my past students.
I had given up on pretending to remember past students when I would run into them. After all, as a music teacher in two schools, I had thousands of students over the years.
“Remember me—Keisha, you gave me a solo when I was in the fifth grade? I still remember that,” she said.
I thought this was such a nice gesture from a young lady who could have chosen not to speak up and keep the memory to herself. Teachers rarely experience these occasions. We often don’t know how our decisions affect our students. Some soloists I’ve chosen over the years probably have long forgotten. But others, like Keisha, will always remember.
Be encouraged, teacher. You won’t know how you have influenced most of your students in this life, but remember, Someone else always does!
Thank You for encouraging me today, dear Lord. Please use me and the qualities and the personality You have given me to make a difference in someone’s life. Amen.
