THE PEACE JESUS PROMISES

“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33, NIV

Jesus’ words remind us that He sees our worries, hurts, and frustrations. Life will bring trouble, but He promises that we will never face it alone. Because He has already overcome the world, we can have peace in Him.

As educators, that truth matters not only for us, but also for the students who walk into our classrooms each day. Many of them carry worries they don’t always know how to express. Yet when we show up each day, we remind them that they are not alone. Our classrooms can become places of comfort, care, and peace.

One year, I had a sweet little girl whose mom was having surgery that morning. Haylee came up to me quietly and whispered that she was really worried. I gently took her hands, bent down beside her, and said, “Let’s pray.”

I prayed for peace for her and her mom and asked that the doctors would take good care of her. When I said, “Amen,” tears were streaming down her face. She wrapped her arms around me and simply said, “Thank you.”

Times like these remind us how powerful this peace can be. When we bring our worries to Jesus, He meets us with comfort. And when we pray for our students, we are helping point them to the One who has already overcome every fear and hardship.

When we face troubling times—whether for you, your students, or your coworkers—remember this promise from John 16:33. Pray it over your classroom and over the people God has placed in your care.

Dear Lord, thank You for going before us and overcoming the world. Thank You for loving us and giving us peace through You. Lord, I pray for peace over my students, coworkers, and family. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
