TASTING

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. Psalm 34:8, NIV

As we approach Thanksgiving, this verse feels especially fitting. The Hebrew word for “taste” is ta’am (taw-am’), meaning “to perceive,” and the word for “see” is ra’ah (raw-aw’), meaning “to behold” or “enjoy.” This verse is inviting us to go beyond a surface-level acknowledgment of God’s goodness—it calls us to experience it deeply and personally. And Thanksgiving is a perfect time to do just that. This season, let’s ask ourselves: What do I taste, see, hear, smell, or touch that reminds me of God’s goodness?

A crackling fire. A child’s laughter. The crunch of autumn leaves. A warm pie. A familiar song. A loved one’s hug. These are not just simple pleasures—they are messages from a loving God, inviting us to delight in Him.

But how often do we rush through these blessings without noticing? I confess—I do this often. So my prayer this Thanksgiving is simple: “Lord, open all my senses to Your goodness.”

As we gather around tables and share in the abundance of this season, may we become more aware of the One who provides it all. Don’t miss the messages. God’s goodness is all around—prepare to be delighted!

Oh Lord! You are so generous in giving us this wonderful time of year. We are grateful again for our nation and for the peace and joy You give to us. We remember our soldiers, asking You to be with each one. Please lead any of our students who do not know You to hear in a way they can understand this year. Thank You. Amen.
