For there is no respect of persons with God. Romans 2:11, KJV
As I sat in Sunday school that morning, Brother Johnny—who often jokes about being nervous teaching with an English teacher in the room—shared the truth that God is no respecter of persons. He reminded us that God does not favor one person above another but loves each of His creations equally.
That simple truth struck me in a new way. Walking into my classroom, I had always seen myself as the authority—the one in charge. But that morning, God shifted my perspective. I began to think about my students and how God loves each of them just as much as He loves me. They are created in His image, just like I am.
When I remember this truth, it changes how I see my colleagues, administrators, and even the students who challenge me most. Seeing others through God’s eyes transforms the way I respond—with compassion, patience, and grace. And when I feel unsupported, isolated, or overwhelmed, I remind myself that others often feel the same. Just as I long for encouragement, so do they. When I choose to extend that same grace, I become a reflection of His love—a living reminder that God truly shows no favoritism.
As I left Sunday school class that morning, I told Brother Johnny how much his message meant to me. I reminded him that just as he said, God doesn’t look at one of us with more favor than another. What a freeing truth: The same God who loves me loves him, my students, and every person I meet with equal grace and care.
Educators, I encourage you to take a moment today to ask God to help you see everyone you encounter through His eyes—equally loved, valued, and worthy of grace.
Dear Father in Heaven, thank You for Your Word that instructs me and teaches me Your ways. Thank You for loving me and for reminding me each day that You show no favoritism—You love each of us equally and completely. Amen.
