Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2, ESV
Resolutions, goals, lists, and decluttering! January often feels like a fresh start—a chance to reset and refresh. It might mean revising lesson plans, trying new classroom routines, or exploring different book selections. Yet, the reality is that January doesn’t come with a magic wand. Last year’s challenges don’t simply disappear when the calendar flips. If you teach younger students, you will likely have the same class for several more months. The break may have offered a breather, but it didn’t erase the issues you faced in December.
As you move into the new year, take heart and find renewal in God’s Word. Consider starting a new devotional, opening a fresh prayer journal, or diving into your favorite Bible translation. Ask God in prayer to open your eyes, renew your mind, and transform your thoughts. Seek His will, and trust in His promise to grant discernment when you ask. He is always faithful!
Dear God, thank you for a new year! Please help me to renew my mind this year. Guide me in seeing my students with new eyes, transforming my thoughts, and seeking Your will in all I do. Thank you, Lord, Amen.
