PRAY FOR YOUR PRINCIPAL

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. I Timothy 2:1-2, NIV

To quote Rudyard Kipling, “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you…” then you must be principal material!

How a man or woman does it is beyond me—running a school building, evaluating and mentoring teachers, preparing budgets, dealing with constant behavior problems that no one else in the building can handle, arranging coverage for classes when no substitutes are available, and diplomatically dealing with upper administrators and parents. This is a Herculean job.

Have you ever prayed specifically for your principal? In many cases, you may be the only one who does. Every decision they make shapes the climate of the school, touches teachers, and affects students. When you pray, you are inviting God’s wisdom, patience, and protection into the hallways you walk through every day. And through your quiet faithfulness, God may strengthen an entire school community in ways you will never fully see.

Dear Lord, please help me to be faithful in praying for my school, school district, principal, superintendent, and all those in authority. Amen.
