And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26, NLT
As I drive through São Paulo, Brazil—one of the largest cities in the world—I see many striking contrasts: Wealth beside poverty. Progress beside destruction. Beauty beside brokenness. And people chasing success, yet still longing for peace.
And in all of it, I see one thing: distress.
Maybe you’ve felt distress too. Life gets overwhelming, confusing, and even painful. The good news? We’re not alone in it.
Today’s verse reminds us that when we don’t know what to say to God, the Holy Spirit steps in. He prays for us not just with words, but with deep groanings that go beyond language. In other words, when you’re too tired, heartbroken, or unsure to pray, God Himself is already interceding on your behalf.
How amazing is this?Â
So today, take comfort: You are in the hands of a God who is love. He sees your distress. He understands what you can’t express. And He’s already at work for your good.
Isn’t that a reason to breathe a little easier today?
Dear God, thank You that I’m never alone in my weakness. When words fail me, You do not. When I’m overwhelmed, You are steady. Holy Spirit, thank You for interceding for me, even when I don’t know how to pray. Remind me that You see my distress, and that Your love holds me through it all. Help me to trust that You’re already working for my good, especially when I can’t see it. Today, I rest in Your presence and peace. Amen.
