I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8, NIV
The Lord’s loving eye is upon us not just occasionally, but every day and every moment. He watches over us with care, guiding and instructing us in the way we should go.
In the classroom, we experience a small reflection of this truth. As teachers, we keep a loving eye on our students as we guide, instruct, and redirect them. It brings to mind the familiar myth that teachers have eyes in the backs of their heads. That kind of “with-it-ness” is a gift. When it flows from love rather than control, students learn to trust us because they know we are watching out for their good.
How reassuring it is to know that God possesses the ultimate “with-it-ness.” Nothing escapes His attention. He counsels, teaches, and leads us with perfect wisdom and unwavering love. His promise to guide us is not distant or impersonal. It is attentive, intentional, and deeply caring.
What a powerful model this is for us. As recipients of God’s loving guidance, we are invited to reflect that same care, attentiveness, and faithfulness to the students entrusted to us.
Father, I thank You that You faithfully guide and teach me as I seek to become more like You. Help me to guide and teach my students in the same way. Amen.
