The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:17, NIV
In Scripture, Jesus gives us a glimpse of what the world will be like in the days leading up to His return—a time when He will gather His body of believers, and God will bring final judgment to a world that has rejected Him. Though it’s been over two thousand years since those words were spoken, the message remains as relevant as ever: Live each day as though Jesus could return today.
How would we want Him to find us living?
Because God has given us His Holy Spirit who dwells within us, transforms us into Christ’s likeness, and guides our daily priorities, we are no longer called to live for ourselves or to chase after what the world values. Instead, we are empowered to live lives that reflect His holiness, love, and purpose.
By faith, we can submit to His sanctifying work each day, allowing Him to shape us more and more into the image of Jesus. This isn’t just a distant ideal. It’s a present possibility for every believer who is willing to surrender and walk in step with the Spirit.
Let us join together today in praying that the priorities of “the world” will fade out of our lives and the priorities of God will become paramount.
Please help me keep my eyes on You today, Lord. May what is important to You become more important to me. Thank You. Amen.
