Prayer: Dear Father, help us to find ways to be in the moment with those around us. Give us wisdom on the decisions we must make today. Amen
Scripture: Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Philippians 3:12 NIV
Living in the moment can be a challenging task for busy teachers. The need to think five steps ahead or to multitask are skills that can easily distract from enjoying a moment with a student. This scripture reminds us of the end goal that is our daily focus: the Kingdom of God. The verse following it says, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:13-14). As we are present in the moment, we allow the Lord to use us in every situation.
This can be a challenging task in a busy world, but leaving a sticky note or setting an alarm can be simple ways to remind us to keep our eyes on Him.
