Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9, NIV
God doesn’t simply suggest that we be courageous—He commands it. Joshua 1:9 is a powerful reminder that fear and discouragement are not from God. Instead, He calls us to live with strength, courage, and confidence in His presence. Wherever we go, whatever we face, He is with us.
I had a mentor who used to tell me, “Be holy bold.” He never explained it, but I understood exactly what he meant. He was calling me to live out my faith in a way that was unapologetic yet respectful, bold yet compassionate—especially as a Christian educator working in the public school system.
“Holy boldness” isn’t about being loud or pushy. It’s about having the courage to live your faith authentically and lovingly, even in spaces where it might not be popular or easy. It means praying with conviction, standing for truth with grace, and showing the love of Christ through your words and actions.
So, what about you? Are you “being holy bold?” Are you letting your faith shine in the places God has placed you—your school, your workplace, your community?
Ask Him to show you what holy boldness looks like in your life. And trust that He’ll give you the strength and courage to live it out.
Father, I pray for holy boldness as I seek to reveal who You are to my campus. Show me what holy boldness looks like and give me the courage to step out in it. Amen.
