CALLED TO SHINE

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. John 8:12, NIV

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light. Ephesians 5:8, NIV

As educators, it’s easy to get caught up in tasks, deadlines, and the constant motion of the day. But it’s so important to remember why we are really there: to love these children. Teaching is a ministry and a calling from God. Every day, I walk into my classroom knowing without a doubt that God placed me there. And so, we are called to “live as children of light.”

When you look around, it’s not hard to see the darkness in our world. That’s why those of us who love Jesus must let His light shine through us. Be the light. Don’t hide it. Let it shine so brightly that it overflows onto everyone who crosses your path. As the song says, “Hide it under a bushel? NO!”

Let the love of Jesus shine through you in your classroom. Let those who enter your room see His light in the way you speak, teach, and care. Some of your students may be surrounded by darkness everywhere else, and your classroom may be the one place they see the light of Christ.

Shine brightly—for your students, colleagues, administration, and anyone who needs the hope we have in Jesus. Let them see Him through you!

Jesus, thank You for the ministry You’ve given us as educators. Thank You for the Hope we have through You. Please let us be a light in this dark world. Help us show Your love every day. And thank You for putting us in our position for these children. Amen.
