Jean Lamfers
Director of Legal Services

In addition to her role with Christian Educators, Jean is a civil rights attorney in the Kansas City area. Her private practice focuses on safeguarding the rights of individuals involved in education matters. She brings over 25 years of experience as an outside claims counsel with a professional liability insurance carrier to benefit members’ interests. Her background in employment law representing educators and community members confronting religious discrimination and retaliation equips her to confront the myriad of issues educators face in the classroom and their leadership positions. Jean has been an adjunct professor of law at Washburn University School of Law, a member of the adjunct faculty at Johnson County Community College, and a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars.

Her passions include fighting for educators’ equal protection and First Amendment rights, which dovetail with her early careers in media law and broadcast journalism. She is especially concerned about protecting educators’ Constitutional Rights from erosion by outside forces from wherever those threats originate.
