Craig is a lifelong educator, including 10 years as a teacher, 4 years as a secondary language arts chair, 2 years as a secondary building principal, 26 years as a superintendent of schools, and 10 years as a school board member (5 as the school board president). He has also held various state-wide elected positions and appointments, including president of the Iowa High School Athletic Association, President-elect of the Iowa School Board Association, and numerous Iowa Governor appointments.
