Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to be faithful to pray for my school, school district, principal, superintendent, and all those in authority. Amen

Scripture: I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. I Timothy 2:1 NIV

To use Kipling’s words, “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you… ” then you must be principal material!!! How a man or woman does it is beyond me – keeping the machinery of a school going, evaluating and mentoring teachers, preparing budgets, dealing with constant behavior problems that no one else in the building can handle, arranging coverage for classes when no substitutes are available, and diplomatically dealing with upper administrators and parents. This has to be a Herculean job.

Do you pray for your principal as you should? Every day? You may be the only person who prays for that man or that woman. From your prayer closet you can invite God to bless and lead your school, and help with the decisions that will affect so many, including yourself. Will you hear God say, “Well done,” because of the way in which you held up your school leader?
