WITHOUT CEASING

Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, NKJV

I lost count of the number of dresses I tried on that afternoon. So I started praying, asking God to help me find the right dress for my wedding reception. When I eventually found the perfect dress, I headed to the register to checkout. As I approached the front of the store, I saw police in the parking lot. I soon learned that someone had been robbing people in the parking lot while I was in the dressing room praying and trying on dress after dress.

I know it may seem silly to some that I asked God to help me find a dress. But 1 Thessalonians 5:17 instructs us to pray without ceasing…even about something as simple as a dress. This doesn’t mean that we will always get what we want or everything will always go our way. But it does mean that when we pray without ceasing and ask God to guide us through our days, He will give us wisdom and protect us even when we don’t know what to pray for.

My Lord and Savior, thank you for showing me the route to take. Thank you for paving the way. I will continue to lean on You for guidance. Amen.
