THE LOVE NOTE

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please keep us mindful of how deeply our students are affected by our attitudes and words. Thank You for your kindness to us. In Jesus’s name. Amen

Scripture: Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. James 3:1 NIV 1984

“Dear Mrs. Wilson, I think that you are great because you teach me lots of things about singing. Music is INCREDIBLE! Love, Donald.”

Now wouldn’t you enjoy receiving words like this from a student? For most teachers, words of affirmation are few and far between.

When we do receive words like this from a student, we realize the impact of the things that we do and say. We often forget the gravity of our position and the weight of our words. We need reminders to help us see how careful we should be in our place as teachers.

James reminded Christians of the high position and the seriousness of teaching. Let students’ compliments remind you as you teach that you will be held more accountable than others because of your highly visible and influential place in children’s lives. Ask God to show you His viewpoint and the value of what you do, and consider how important it is to go in His strength and wisdom.
