THE HOLY SPIRIT

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26, NLT

One day, I was grieving and really needed to feel the Father’s love. So when I came upon Romans 8:26, the words leapt from the page and into my heart. At that moment, God reminded me that the Holy Spirit is my Helper, I’m not alone, I’m not abandoned, and I’m not powerless! Even when I’m dealing with times of intense sadness, the Word of God tells me that the Holy Spirit is praying on my behalf! He is uttering the right words for me since I can’t be certain that my words are the right words in the midst of my confusion and sadness. And this communication that our Holy Spirit has with God comes through something that is far beyond and above mere words—the emotional “groanings” of my heart. He is in my crisis, feeling my suffering, and praying on my behalf—what a wonderfully awesome God we serve!

Dear Lord, I pray that I always go to You in my distress. Thank you for lifting my heart with Your Word. Amen.
