STUDY THE GREAT WORKS OF THE LORD

Prayer: Gracious Lord, in this busy time of year, we want to stop and study Your great works in our lives and the lives of others. We give You the thanks that You deserve this season. Amen

Scripture: Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations. The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! Psalm 111 ESV

We are coming up on a very busy season. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas can steal our energy and our joy. The best prescription for tiredness is giving thanks; perseverance is strengthened with praise.

I am sure that God has done some great works in your life this year! We are called on to remember His wonders, works, and wisdom that have guided, protected, and blessed us throughout our lives. We have an obligation to share His splendid and majestic works as a testimony of our relationship with Him as Almighty God. Our public profession of His Lordship in our lives causes the lost to lean in and take a closer look at the One who is worthy of all obedience and trust. Our thanks is our testimony of His on-going love and hand in our lives, the reason for our steadfastness in times of trouble, the evidence for our faith instead of fear, and a reminder to us that He has made Himself known in our lives. He is an awesome God worthy of our awe, praise, and thanks that spills from a sincere heart to a gracious God.

Take this time to remember at least one thing that God has done in your life this year that you are especially thankful for. I am sure you have more than one.
