SPRING FLOODS

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19 KJV

Spring floods are not uncommon in the Midwest. And they can be devastating. Houses and farmlands can get swept away. Sometimes bridges and roads are out of sight. Without the help of the government and insurance, bankruptcies are inevitable.

Spring—the time for budget referendums, testing, retention decisions, teacher placement for the next school year, staff cuts, and pink slips. These spring floods can be devastating as well. At times, we might feel like we can barely keep our heads above water. We wonder how we will make it through.

In times of flooding, it is essential to hold on to something stable and to have the right perspective. How wonderful that the Lord gives us His assurance in Isaiah 43, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.”

Please help us, Oh Lord, to keep holding onto You even in troubling times. We don’t want to miss out on time spent listening to You and growing in our trust and peace. Thank You, Lord. Amen.

  1. Thank you for the words of encouragement. It is good to know that the inevitable storms and floods will not be endured without help and that these blessings we can share with others who are in need. Love and commitment are what make the difference. God bless.
