Prayer: We give this day over to You, Lord, to use us as You will. Amen
Scripture: Now there are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service in the church, but it is the same Lord we are serving. There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church. 1 Cor. 12:4 NLT version
Dear Christ-follower, I have some wonderful news for you today. Our Lord has designed and ordained a particularly specialized ability by which you can bless others and serve God. It is called a gift from God’s Spirit, or a “Spiritual Gift.” Many might have something similar but not exactly like yours and not for the exact implementations that the Lord has in mind for you and your gift.
Have you discovered it yet? Have you asked Him? It is there just waiting for you to discover it – like those brightly colored packages that used to be hidden under the tree during your childhood Christmas celebrations. Only this gift is not a thing to be played with and then laid aside. This gift is a blessing that will be used to uplift and care for some aspect of the ministry of Christ’s church. And the ministry of Christ’s church is to let everyone know they are invited into it by faith because of God’s grace.
Each of us is created uniquely by God. He had a plan for you, and another one for me, and others for everyone else even before our grandparents were born – even before their grandparents, and theirs. The Word assures us that God had you and me in mind when He created everything. To our puny brains this seems unfathomable but to God it is all in a day’s work.
What is the special activity that God is calling you to use to bless the ministry of Christ’s church? I pray you know it before this day is over.
“Lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other’s faults because of your love. Always keep yourselves united with the Holy Spirit and bind yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3 NLT
