FATHER TO THE FATHERLESS

Prayer: Lord, Thank You that You father the fatherless, that wherever we lack, You come in and fill our void. I ask that You would use me in the lives of my students who have lost a parent, to love them like You love them and that You would show me what to pray for them. Amen

Scripture: A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. Psalm 68:5 NIV

Do you have any students who have lost a parent? It is possible that you don’t even know. Try to find out if any of your students are fatherless or have lost a mother. There is no need to tell the student(s) once you find out, but begin to pray for their hearts, their home life and their relationship with God. He is the Father to the fatherless. Make special effort to be loving to these children for their lives are much more tender with such a great loss. Consider adopting one of them academically by checking in with them a little more often than you would with other students just to see how they are doing with their grades. Become their official mentor and be God’s agent and protector this year for some of the weaker among our children.

Quote for the Day: Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams. Ralph Waldo Emerson
