CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17, NIV

I remember how hectic December was when I was teaching. School programs, making gifts for parents, decorating (and the frustration of having to make sure there weren’t any “Christian” decorations being used), parties, etc.

I would always think, When was I ever going to get ready for Christmas with my family, especially the shopping?

Every year, I had to pause and realize that this is the most beautiful time of the year and that God has already given us the only perfect gift—His Son, Jesus. I had to ask God to help me stay focused on the true reason for the season.

Oh Lord, please help us keep Your perspective in all we do. Please help us to have lots of fun celebrating the awesome gift of Your only Son and let us not get bogged down with the unimportant. Thank You. Amen.
