GOD SEES YOU

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58, ESV

Piles of grading. Irate parents. Disrespectful, disinterested students. Constant testing and unreasonable requirements. These, and many more things, can demoralize teachers. They can bring us down, discourage us, and make us wonder if we are wasting our time.

If you feel this way, I want to offer you some encouragement today:

  • You are not wasting your time. What you’re doing does matter. Your labor is not in vain.
  • There are students in your class who will look back on this year and be thankful for your influence. They may even be the ones causing you the most trouble right now.
  • The seeds you are planting in young hearts and minds will grow and bear fruit, even if you can’t see it yet. Growth takes time.
  • You are making a difference. There are students who care, who are grateful, who are learning, and who are growing—even if they never tell you.

But most importantly, God sees your effort, your work, and your labor. And He is the only one that truly matters. He sees the long hours and the tears. He knows your biggest frustrations and your deepest hurts. He doesn’t overlook you. And He doesn’t take you for granted.

So today, in the midst of the busyness, frustration, and chaos, take a moment and remember the real reason why you teach. And, when you keep your focus on Him, everything happening around you won’t seem to matter as much.

Don’t give up. Don’t quit. Be encouraged in the Lord. And keep making a difference!

Father, thank you that You are at work, even when we don’t see it. Please help us keep our eyes on You and trust You each and every moment. For Your son Jesus’ sake, Amen.
