ATTENTIVE

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. Psalm 40:1, NIV

Sometimes we pray for something for a long time, and it seems like God is not listening. But He is always listening to us. He knows our requests before we even ask.

Waiting is not a practice that most of us enjoy, and waiting patiently is seemingly impossible at times. Yet as we look back on our requests, we can see that He is a “just in time” God Who not only listens to our cries but inclines Himself toward us.

If you are not already journaling, may I suggest a small daily journal to record your blessings each week? It will give you the chance to witness what God has done in your life. Be sure to date the entries and look back each school year. You will be amazed at just how attentive He has been to the cries of your heart.

Father, thank You that You always hear me when I cry out to You. Teach me what it looks like to wait patiently for You rather than stressing out or rushing on ahead of what You’re doing. I choose to trust You and Your timing today. Amen.
