FAITHFUL IN THE FIRE

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2, ESV

As a Christian teacher in a public school, you are standing on a unique front line—a place where faith and calling intersect with challenge and restraint. You may face discouragement, opposition, or simply the exhaustion of trying to do what feels impossible with too little time and too few resources. Perhaps this school year has already tested your limits, patience, and maybe even your joy.

But this difficult season is not a sign of failure. It’s an invitation. An invitation to walk more closely with the God who promises not to leave you when the waters rise, and not to forsake you when the heat intensifies. He never said we would avoid the fire, but He did promise we wouldn’t face it alone.

Every difficult conversation, moment of doubt, and chaotic classroom is not an obstacle to your faith, but an opportunity to deepen it. God is forming something in you through these challenges: a faith that perseveres, a love that reflects His own, and a light that cannot be dimmed by circumstances.

Don’t miss the holy moments in the hard places. Let each struggle draw you closer to the One who called you to this mission. He sees you. He strengthens you. And He is using you in ways you may not yet see.

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to this work and for being with me through every challenge. When the days are long and the work feels heavy, remind me of Your presence. Let me not grow weary in doing good, even when I can’t see the results. Use these difficult times to shape me, refine me, and draw me closer to You. May my classroom be a place where Your peace dwells, and may my life quietly reflect Your love to all I encounter. Strengthen my heart, renew my mind, and help me remain faithful in the fire. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Thank you Lara for this wonderful devotional. I especially loved…”Don’t miss the holy moments in the hard situations.” We all face hard situations, but May we always remember to look to our God and grow deeper in his love and faith in those situations. Have a blessed day!!
