SUMMER RESET

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29, NIV

Soon, the last bell will ring, the whiteboard will be wiped clean, and chairs will be stacked on the desks for the last time this school year. Summer will begin, and in the words of every teacher out there, “It’s time to drink iced coffee, grab a relaxing book, and take as many bathroom breaks as you want.”

But beyond the naps and binge-watching of shows you’ve missed for the last nine months, God invites us into something deeper. He wants us to reflect, rest, and rediscover who we are outside of our classrooms. He hopes we will do more than just sleep in (although please do that too)—He wants us to let our souls breathe, recharge our spirits, and renew our hearts for August.

Consider: What did God do in your classroom this year? What prayers were answered? Where did you grow personally and professionally? What brought you joy?

And then make more of it—more JOY, that is! Laugh hard. Read something with zero educational value. Chase the sunset. Let God meet you in this moment.

Remember, you are not JUST a teacher. You are His child. Your identity is found in Him, not in just what you do. He wants to refresh your spirit and restore your soul. So go on. Smile bigger, rest guilt-free, and enjoy the summer! He’s got you!

Dear Jesus, thank You for helping me make it through this school year. Even when there were challenging or joyful times, You were there to help me be Your hands and feet. Now, I am inviting You to restore my soul, and help me relax through the summer. I need Your presence to fill me up and recharge me before heading into another school year. I believe that You will do this. Amen.
