FREE TO BE FREE

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake. Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. 1 Peter 1:18-22, NLT

Sometimes, guilt collects on us like moths around a porch light at night. But we, who have yielded to the salvation offered by God through faith in Jesus Christ, need not accept such guilt.

Instead, God wants to shower forgiveness upon us. The penalty has been paid for us, and we are now as though we were sinless from the beginning.

This sets us free to live for God, free from condemnation, from an obligation to continue sinful practices, and free from the tyranny of ourselves over our nature.

We are free to be humble, free to be kind, free to be unconditionally loving, and free to be forgiving. God’s grace has brought us across that infinitely wide gap between our sinfulness and His holiness.

Be at peace today as you rejoice in where you are with God through your faith in Christ. And, if you find that you are NOT with God, nothing is preventing you from crossing that bridge to Him right now.

May we always remember to use our freedom to serve You and others. We pray today for the salvation of our co-workers and all our students. Thank You for hearing us, O Lord, and for wanting all to be saved. Amen.
