Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. Psalms 103:2, NLT
Have you ever wondered why God does things the way He does them? I often think, he certainly doesn’t do things the way I would. If I were God, as soon as Moses demanded the release of the Israelites from Pharaoh, I would have made Pharaoh let them go.
Why did God have to allow all the plagues and the death of the firstborn of the Egyptians? Well, if you’ve read the Old Testament, you know the waywardness of the Israelites —which often mirrors our own hearts. They needed to see the Lord’s dramatic rescue to put their trust in Him and to have confidence in the leadership of Moses. In time, when they forgot what God had done for them, they turned to idols, leading to war and death. But when they once again remembered the great things God did to rescue them, they returned to placing their trust in Him.
Thank goodness God doesn’t do things the way I would!
As Christians, it’s important for us to take time to remember the faithfulness of God in our own lives. Personally, I like to write a note recounting answers to prayer and other times God has blessed me. Then I pin it to my bulletin board in my home office. I call it my wall of remembrance.
Take a few minutes to think about how God has shown his faithfulness in your life. How could you make remembering God’s goodness and faithfulness a planned part of your day?
Father, You are a good and faithful God who has blessed me abundantly! I thank You and praise You for who You are and the wonderful things You have done for me. Amen.

Thank you for the reminder, I guess I need it daily, too. It brought tears to my eyes.
